Data Sharing Policy

The Journal of Applied Cosmetology (JAC) supports transparency, reproducibility and responsible sharing of scientific research data. The journal encourages authors to make the data supporting their published findings available wherever legally and ethically possible, while respecting confidentiality, privacy and intellectual property rights.

  1. Data Availability

All manuscripts reporting original research must include a Data Availability Statement indicating whether the data supporting the findings are available and how they may be accessed.

Authors are strongly encouraged to share relevant research data through recognized repositories, supplementary materials or upon reasonable request to the corresponding author.

Where data cannot be shared, authors should explain the reasons for any restrictions.

Public data sharing is encouraged but is not mandatory for all submissions.

  1. Data Sharing and Repositories

Authors are encouraged to deposit research data in established repositories appropriate to their field, preferably those providing persistent identifiers such as Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs).

Where applicable, the Data Availability Statement should identify the repository, provide the relevant accession number or persistent identifier, and specify any conditions governing access or reuse.

Data sharing should allow appropriate verification and interpretation of the published findings without compromising participant privacy or confidentiality.

  1. Clinical Trial Data

Manuscripts reporting clinical trials must include a data-sharing statement consistent with the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

For clinical trials that began enrolling participants on or after 1 January 2019, the trial registration must include a data-sharing plan. Any changes to that plan should be reflected in the Data Availability Statement and the trial registration record.

The statement should indicate whether de-identified individual participant data will be shared and, where applicable, identify the data to be shared, the conditions of access and the period during which the data will be available.

  1. Ethical and Confidentiality Considerations

Data sharing must comply with applicable ethical standards, data protection legislation and institutional requirements.

Patient information, personal data and confidential research material must be appropriately protected. Identifiable information must not be publicly disclosed without the necessary consent and legal or ethical authorization.

Where restrictions apply, authors should explain whether anonymized data or controlled access arrangements may be available.

  1. Data Availability Statements

Authors should include a Data Availability Statement in their manuscript, normally before the References section.

Depending on the nature of the research, one of the following statements may be appropriate:

  • Data available in a public repository: The data supporting the findings of this study are available in a publicly accessible repository, as specified in the manuscript.
  • Data available upon reasonable request: The data supporting the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.
  • Data included in the article: All data relevant to the study are included in the article or its supplementary materials.
  • Restricted data: The data supporting the findings of this study are not publicly available due to ethical, legal or confidentiality restrictions.
  • No new data generated: No new datasets were generated or analyzed during the preparation of this article.

Authors should select or adapt the statement that accurately reflects the availability of their research data and provide additional information where necessary.

  1. Author and Editorial Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for the accuracy, integrity and appropriate management of the data supporting their research.

The Editorial Office may request access to supporting data or additional information during manuscript evaluation or following publication where necessary to assess the reliability or integrity of the findings.

Any concerns regarding data integrity will be addressed in accordance with the journal's Editorial Policies and Publishing Policies.

This policy should be read alongside the Journal of Applied Cosmetology Instructions for Authors and other applicable journal policies.
