Abstract

In a period when counterfeiting is a booming business everywhere in the world, it is of paramount importance for companies to adequately protect their IP assets. Although it is impossible to completely eradicate or prevent this phenomenon, there are some measures that, if put in place effectively, may discourage the counterfeiters from violating third parties’ exclusive rights. In fact, not investing in the protection of a company’s IP assets or waiting too long before taking some actions may ultimately result in the loss of a company’s creativity to the benefit of the counterfeiters, sometimes with irrevocable effects.
