Cosmetic and Medical Treatments: the Point of View of Patents

Abstract

In the first part the speech will show general figures concerning statistics on number and kind of patents in the cosmetic sector highlighting the most recent trends. Then a specific patent document will be analyzed with the idea of pointing out the differences with a scientific article on the same subject. This point will be further expanded in the last part dealing with the different definitions of cosmetic and drug - from a patent point of view also if this issue is surely highly debated in the scientific world -with the aim of showing the effect of this definition in the patentability of products.
