Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses). Illustrations, figures and tables should be submitted separately in jpeg or PDF. Please ensure that you highlight or cite the position of the figures and tables within the article.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • All authors have approved the submission of this article.
  • Authors Declare No Conflict of Interest. In the case of Conflict of Interest, the author pledges to attach a declaration stating the conditions therewith.

Author Guidelines

Submission of Manuscripts

Authors wishing to submit a manuscript to the Journal of Mediterranean, European and African Sciences (JMEAS) are required to follow the procedures outlined below.

To submit a new manuscript:

  • Register on the journal website. Authors are encouraged to register also as reviewers.

  • Carefully read the Author Guidelines, Editorial Policies, and Competing Interest Policy.

  • Log in to the journal system.

  • Select the option to initiate a new submission and follow the step-by-step submission procedure.

To submit a revised manuscript:

  • Log in to your author account.

  • Access the submitted manuscript via its title.

  • Upload the revised version in the section dedicated to revisions.

  • Inform the Editorial Office that the revised manuscript has been submitted.


Article Types and Formats

Original Research Articles

  • Maximum length: 3,500 words

  • Abstract: up to 300 words

  • References: up to 50

  • Tables/Figures: 3–5

Structure:
Abstract; Introduction; Materials and Methods; Results; Discussion; Conclusions; References.


Review Articles

  • Maximum length: 5,000 words

  • Abstract: up to 250 words

  • References: 40–70

  • Tables/Figures: 3–5

Reviews should provide a comprehensive and critical synthesis of the current state of knowledge. Authors must clearly describe the literature search strategy, including keywords, databases used, and inclusion/exclusion criteria.


Case Reports

  • Maximum length: 2,000 words

  • Abstract: up to 150 words

  • References: up to 20

  • Tables/Figures: up to 3

Structure:
Abstract; Introduction; Case Description(s); Discussion; Conclusions; References.


Letters to the Editor

  • Maximum length: 1,000 words

  • Abstract: not required

  • References: up to 5

  • Tables/Figures: 1 maximum

Letters should address scientific issues related to articles published in JMEAS or topics within the journal’s scope. Letters are published at the discretion of the Editors and are not subject to formal peer review.


Language and Style

  • Manuscripts must be written in clear, correct English.

  • The style should be concise and precise.

  • Excessive jargon and non-standard abbreviations should be avoided.

  • Manuscripts requiring extensive language revision may be returned to authors prior to peer review.


Authorship Criteria

All authors must meet internationally accepted authorship criteria, including those defined by the International Council of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

Each author must have made substantial contributions to:

  • the conception or design of the work, and/or

  • data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation, and/or

  • drafting or critically revising the manuscript.

All authors must approve the submitted version and agree to be accountable for their contributions.

Any change in authorship after submission must be approved by all authors.


Ethical Standards

JMEAS adheres to the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Authors must declare:

  • originality of the work;

  • absence of plagiarism or redundant publication;

  • disclosure of any conflicts of interest.

A No Conflict of Interest Statement is required for all submissions.


Manuscript Preparation

  • Manuscripts must be submitted in Word format, double-spaced, with standard margins.

  • The title page must include:

    • manuscript title;

    • full author names and affiliations;

    • corresponding author contact details.

  • A set of keywords must be provided for indexing purposes.


References

References must be cited numerically in the text and listed in numerical order at the end of the manuscript.

Example formats:

Journal article
Autorino R, Lamendola MG, De Luca G, et al. Title. Journal Name Year; Volume: pages.

Book chapter
Robb RJ, Lin Y. Chapter title. In: Editor(s), eds. Book Title. Publisher, City; Year: pages.

For works with eight or more authors, list the first three followed by et al.


Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures must be cited in the text in numerical order.

  • Tables should include a concise title.

  • Figures must be submitted as separate high-quality files (PDF or JPG).

  • The International System of Units (SI) must be used.


Reviewer Suggestions

During submission, authors are invited to suggest three potential reviewers with appropriate expertise.

Suggested reviewers must:

  • not be recent collaborators (last five years);

  • not be affiliated with the authors’ institutions.

The Editors are not obliged to use the suggested reviewers.


Peer Review Process

All manuscripts undergo:

  • initial editorial screening;

  • assignment to at least two independent reviewers;

  • single-blind peer review.

Editorial decisions include:

  • Accept with Minor Revisions

  • Reconsider after Major Revisions

  • Reject and Encourage Resubmission

  • Reject


Proofs and Publication

Accepted manuscripts undergo copy-editing and proofreading.
Page proofs must be returned within 48 hours. Only minor corrections are permitted.


Appeals

Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a reasoned request to the Editorial Office.
All appeals are reviewed by senior editorial leadership. Final decisions are binding.


Final Notes

Submission implies that:

  • the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere;

  • all authors agree with submission;

  • the journal’s policies are accepted.

Original Research Articles

Original Research Articles publish original, high-quality research that contributes significantly to the advancement of knowledge within the scope of the Journal of Mediterranean, European and African Sciences (JMEAS).

Submissions must present novel findings, demonstrate methodological rigor, and provide clear theoretical, empirical, or applied contributions.

All manuscripts submitted to this section undergo a rigorous peer-review process in accordance with the journal’s Editorial Policies and ethical standards.

 

Review Articles

Review Articles provide comprehensive, critical, and up-to-date analyses of the literature within the scope of the Journal of Mediterranean, European and African Sciences (JMEAS).

Reviews should synthesize existing research, highlight current trends, identify gaps in knowledge, and propose future research directions.

All submissions to this section are subject to peer review in accordance with the journal’s Editorial Policies and ethical standards.

Case Reports

Case Reports publish well-documented and scientifically relevant case descriptions that provide educational value and contribute to the understanding of specific phenomena within the scope of the Journal of Mediterranean, European and African Sciences (JMEAS).

Submissions should present novel, rare, or illustrative cases, clearly describe the context and observations, and discuss their relevance in light of existing literature.

All manuscripts submitted to this section are subject to peer review in accordance with the journal’s Editorial Policies and ethical standards.

Short Communications

Short Communications publish concise reports of original research findings, preliminary results, innovative methods, or timely observations that are of immediate relevance to the scientific community.

Contributions should be focused, clearly structured, and supported by sound methodology.

All manuscripts submitted to this section undergo peer review in accordance with the journal’s Editorial Policies and ethical standards.

Methodological Papers

Methodological Papers publish studies that focus on the development, validation, or critical evaluation of research methods, models, techniques, tools, or analytical frameworks relevant to the scope of the Journal of Mediterranean, European and African Sciences (JMEAS).

Submissions should provide clear methodological innovation or improvement and demonstrate applicability and relevance for research and practice.

All manuscripts submitted to this section undergo peer review in accordance with the journal’s Editorial Policies and ethical standards.

Editorials

Editorials publish scholarly commentaries, perspectives, and reflections written by Editors, Editorial Board members, or invited experts.

Editorials may introduce journal issues or Special Issues, discuss emerging research trends, or address topics relevant to the scope and editorial direction of the Journal of Mediterranean, European and African Sciences (JMEAS).

Editorials are published at the discretion of the Editors and are not subject to external peer review.

Letters to the Editor

Letters to the Editor provide a forum for scholarly discussion, commentary, and critical engagement with articles published in the Journal of Mediterranean, European and African Sciences (JMEAS) or with topics relevant to the journal’s scope.

Letters may present comments, clarifications, or brief observations. Authors of the referenced articles may be invited to respond.

Letters are published at the discretion of the Editors and are not subject to external peer review.

Special Issue Articles

Special Issue Articles publish original research, reviews, or other scholarly contributions submitted as part of a Special Issue of the Journal of Mediterranean, European and African Sciences (JMEAS).

All manuscripts submitted to this section must align with the theme of the Special Issue and meet the same quality, ethical, and editorial standards as regular submissions.

All articles in this section undergo peer review in accordance with the journal’s Editorial Policies and ethical standards.

Privacy Statement

The Journal of Mediterranean, European and African Sciences (JMEAS) is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of authors, reviewers, editors, and all users who access its website and editorial services.

This Privacy Statement applies to all personal data collected during user registration, manuscript submission, peer review, editorial evaluation, publication, dissemination, and any other activities related to the operation of the journal, including pre-launch and development phases.

The journal’s digital infrastructure and editorial management services are developed and operated by the World Health Academy Publishing House, which oversees data protection compliance and the secure handling of personal information in accordance with applicable regulations.

By registering on the journal website, submitting a manuscript, acting as a reviewer, or otherwise using the journal’s services, users acknowledge and accept the terms of this Privacy Statement.

1. Collection and Purpose of Personal Data

To support scholarly publishing activities, JMEAS may collect personal data including, but not limited to:

  • full name

  • email address

  • institutional affiliation

  • ORCID iD

  • contact details

  • user role (author, reviewer, editor)

Personal data are collected and processed exclusively for legitimate academic and editorial purposes, including manuscript handling, peer review, editorial communication, publication, indexing, archiving, and journal administration.

Personal data are never used for marketing, advertising, or commercial profiling purposes.

2. Legal Basis for Data Processing

Personal data are processed on the basis of:

  • the user’s explicit consent;

  • the necessity to perform editorial and publishing services requested by the user;

  • compliance with legal, ethical, and scholarly obligations related to academic publishing and research integrity.

3. Non-Personally Identifiable Information

The journal may automatically collect non-personally identifiable information such as IP addresses, browser type, operating system, language preferences, and date and time of access.
These data are used solely for technical, security, and statistical purposes and are not used to identify individual users.

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

Personal data may be shared only with trusted third-party service providers directly involved in journal operations, such as:

  • hosting and digital infrastructure services;

  • editorial and publication support services;

  • indexing, archiving, and metadata registration services.

Such data sharing is strictly limited to what is necessary for scholarly publishing purposes.
Personal data are never sold, rented, or transferred to unrelated third parties.

5. Reviewer, Editor, and Editorial Board Data

Personal data of reviewers, editors, and editorial board members are collected exclusively to support editorial decision-making, peer-review activities, and journal governance.

  • access their personal data;

  • request correction or updating of inaccurate or incomplete data;

  • request deletion of their personal data, where legally and academically permissible;

  • withdraw consent for data processing, acknowledging that this may limit access to certain journal services.

Requests must be submitted through the official contact channels provided on the journal website and originate from the registered email address.

8. Data Security

Appropriate technical and organizational measures are adopted to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure.

9. Policy Updates

The journal reserves the right to update this Privacy Statement as necessary to reflect legal, technical, or operational changes.
Any updates will be published on the journal website and will take effect upon publication.
